Banks that don't use ChexSystems

Most banks check ChexSystems or Early Warning Services when you open an account. These 4 providers say on their own pages that they don't check ChexSystems or credit for the account listed. We don't include an account here because a forum or blog said so.

Providers that say they don't check

  • Chime Checking Account

Says it doesn't check App (partner bank). $0, $0 to open.

Chime's own guide to ChexSystems (on chime.com, dated Aug 12, 2026) says some banks, including Chime, do not use ChexSystems at all. The deposit account agreement does not name ChexSystems but says Chime may use information from third parties to help decide whether to open a Checking Account.1

  • Current Account

Says no credit check App (partner bank). $0, Not stated to open.

This is a 'no credit check' statement only. Current's sign-up help article says it does not run a credit check, though any new account may affect a credit score. ChexSystems is not mentioned there or in the deposit agreement, which says Current may use third-party information to decide eligibility.2

  • Dave Checking

Says no credit check App (partner bank). $0, $0 to open.

This is a 'no credit check' statement only. Dave's fees page says there are no credit checks or minimum balance requirements to sign up for Dave Checking, and its home page says Dave never requires a credit check. Neither page, nor the Coastal checking agreement, mentions ChexSystems.3

  • Varo Bank Account

Says it doesn't check Bank. $0, $0 to open.

Two Varo-published articles say Varo doesn't use ChexSystems when reviewing account applications and doesn't check credit history when you apply. The account agreement (effective Feb 13, 2026) and general terms (effective May 4, 2026) don't mention ChexSystems; they let Varo verify applicants against third-party databases.4

Accounts that check, but are built for people with past problems

These banks may pull your report but say the account is meant for people rebuilding their banking history, or that a past problem won't automatically rule you out.

  • Fifth Third Express Banking

Not stated Bank. $5 a month, Not stated to open.

Neither the Express Banking page nor the readable part of Fifth Third's Deposit Account Rules & Regulations mentions ChexSystems or pulling reports to open an account. The Rules say Fifth Third may report you to consumer reporting agencies over overdrafts, and the attached privacy notice says the bank collects information from credit bureaus in general terms.5

  • PNC Simple Checking

May check Bank. $5 a month, $25 to open.

PNC's account agreement says that by opening the account you authorize it to obtain consumer reports from third parties such as consumer reporting agencies, to verify your identity and decide whether you're eligible, and again later to service the account. ChexSystems isn't named in the parts we read; PNC's product page names only Early Warning Services.6

  • Truist Confidence Account

May check Bank. $5 a month, $25 to open.

Truist's Bank Services Agreement says that, as part of qualifying and maintaining depositors, you authorize Truist to obtain information from credit reporting agencies, Early Warning Services or similar agencies as it deems necessary, for internal use. ChexSystems isn't named in the text we read.7

  • Wells Fargo Clear Access Banking

Checks, may still approve Bank. $5 a month, $25 to open.

Wells Fargo says customers may be unable to open a standard account because of past credit or banking history, and offers Clear Access Banking to them as a second chance. The pages and agreement sections we could read do not name ChexSystems. The readable parts of the Deposit Account Agreement only say Wells Fargo may report owners to consumer reporting agencies when an account is closed for unsatisfactory handling or left overdrawn.8

  • Woodforest Second Chance Checking

May check Bank. $11.95 a month, $25 to open.

Woodforest's account Terms and Conditions say the bank may verify your credit and employment history by any necessary means, including a credit report from a credit reporting agency. ChexSystems isn't named, and the Second Chance Checking page doesn't mention screening.9

Before you apply

Get your own ChexSystems report first, so you know what a bank will see, and dispute anything that's wrong. How to get, read and dispute your report.
