Does Domino's hire people with felonies?

No published policy

Unclear.

Domino's hasn't published a policy on hiring people with criminal records.

Domino's careers pages and applicant privacy policy don't say how a criminal record is weighed or whether records are reviewed individually. Franchisees, who run most stores, make their own hiring decisions.

What Domino's has said

Domino's says most of its stores are owned and operated by independent franchisees, each of which is the sole employer of its store workers and alone responsible for hiring. For jobs with Domino's Pizza LLC itself, its 2026 job applicant privacy policy says it runs background checks where the law permits and may collect criminal history information, and its supply chain postings say applicants must pass a pre-employment background check. We found no Domino's statement on hiring people with criminal records, and Domino's is not on the Second Chance Business Coalition member list.

We didn't find a public statement from Domino's about hiring people with records: not on its careers site, in its reports, or in its announcements. That doesn't mean it won't hire you. It means there's nothing on the record to point to.

Does Domino's do background checks?

Domino's runs background checks. Domino's Pizza LLC's 2026 job applicant privacy policy says it conducts reference checks and, where the law permits, background checks, and may collect background check or criminal history information from background check providers. Its supply chain warehouse and CDL driver postings require passing a pre-employment background check, and driving jobs require meeting company driving-record (MVR) standards. Domino's doesn't say when in the process checks happen or how results are weighed, and none of this covers franchise stores.1,2,3

Does Domino's drug test?

Domino's hasn't published a drug testing policy. Domino's hasn't published a drug-testing policy, and its applicant privacy policy and the store and warehouse postings we opened don't mention drug tests. Its supply chain CDL drivers fall under federal DOT rules, which require a negative pre-employment drug test before a CDL driver operates a commercial vehicle.4

Rules for specific jobs

  • Store jobs at franchise-owned Domino's stores (most stores)

Domino's says most stores are run by independent franchisees, each the sole employer of its store workers and alone responsible for hiring, and that depending on the store you pick, you may be applying to a franchisee rather than Domino's. Ask the franchisee about its screening.5

  • Example of one franchisee's delivery driver requirements

One franchisee posting on Domino's careers site (AJD Pizza Management, Ann Arbor, MI) requires passing a criminal background check and MVR, and no DUI, OWI or drug- or alcohol-related charge in the past five years. The posting says Domino's doesn't receive applications for it. This is that franchisee's own rule; other franchisees may differ.6

  • Delivery drivers at company-owned stores (Domino's Pizza LLC)

A company store driver posting (Las Vegas, NV) asks for a valid driver's license with a safe driving record meeting company standards, an insured vehicle, age 18 or older and one year of driving history. It doesn't mention a criminal background check.7

  • Supply chain warehouse jobs (Domino's Pizza LLC)

Warehouse postings we opened in Crown Point, IN and Odenton, MD say applicants must pass a pre-employment background check.8

  • Supply chain CDL truck drivers (Domino's Pizza LLC)

Domino's CDL postings require a Class A CDL, age 21 or older, a DOT physical, meeting company MVR standards and passing a pre-employment background check. FMCSA rules also require a negative pre-employment drug test before a CDL driver operates a commercial vehicle.3

Your rights, and how far back a check can go

  • Under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), an employer must get your written permission before it gets a background report about you from a background screening company.10,11,12
  • Before an employer decides not to hire, keep, or promote you because of something in a background report, it must give you a copy of the report and a document called "A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act."10,11
  • You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your background report directly with the company that made it.10,13
  • The FCRA's seven-year limit does not apply to criminal convictions, so under federal law a conviction can show up on a background report no matter how old it is.14,15
  • Under the FCRA, background and credit reports generally cannot include arrest records, civil lawsuits, or civil judgments that are more than seven years old (or older than the statute of limitations, if that is longer).14,16

Before you apply

  • You can ask a background screening company for the information it has on you, and the CFPB keeps a list of consumer reporting companies, including employment screening companies, with their contact details.10,13,17
  • According to the Clean Slate Initiative, 14 states and Washington, D.C. have passed Clean Slate laws that meet its criteria for automatically clearing eligible records: Pennsylvania, Utah, New Jersey, Connecticut, Michigan, Delaware, Virginia, California, Oklahoma, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, Illinois, and Missouri, plus D.C.18
  • The Federal Bonding Program, run by the U.S. Department of Labor, lets states give employers free fidelity bonds that protect them against losses from a newly hired worker's dishonest acts, for job seekers with past justice involvement or in recovery from substance use.19,20
